Potentially.
Working from home does not automatically remove your Public Liability exposure.
Whether you need Public Liability Insurance depends on the activities your business undertakes.
When can Public Liability be relevant? #
This can include where:
- Clients visit your home
- Suppliers or contractors attend
- You visit client premises
- You attend worksites
- You perform installation or repair work
- You deliver goods
- You attend markets or events
- You undertake other physical work away from home
The location where you perform administrative work does not remove liability arising from activities elsewhere.
What if I sell products? #
If the business sells, supplies, manufactures, imports or installs products, Products Liability can also be relevant.
Public and Products Liability are commonly arranged together, although the policy trigger and terms can differ.
What about Home Insurance? #
Tell your Home Insurance provider if a business operates from the property.
Home Insurance can contain restrictions or exclusions relating to:
- Business activities
- Business equipment
- Visitors
- Commercial liability
Separate Business Insurance may also be required.
Contact our team if you operate a business from home and need help reviewing the exposures.
