Mining and resources contracts can require insurance terms that differ from a contractor’s or consultant’s standard policy. Review the relevant clauses before the agreement is signed and before work starts.
What a contract may require #
- Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, workers compensation, motor or plant insurance
- specified limits, excesses and periods of cover
- cross-liability, principal’s interests or waiver of subrogation provisions
- evidence of insurance and ongoing notification obligations
- cover for subcontractors, remote sites or particular high-risk activities
Broad indemnities, fitness for purpose obligations, warranties and liability assumed under contract may not be fully covered by an insurance policy. A Certificate of Currency confirms limited policy information only and does not establish that all contractual requirements are satisfied.
Arrange review early #
Send Webber Insurance the insurance clauses, scope of work and project details before signing where possible. We can provide a high-level review of the insurance requirements and compare them with the proposed policy.
We do not provide legal advice. Where detailed interpretation or negotiation is required, we can refer you for a contract review focused on the insurance provisions.
