There is no single insurance limit suitable for every Labour Hire company.
Different limits can apply to:
- Professional Indemnity
- Public Liability
- Management Liability
- Cyber Insurance
- Other policies within the insurance program
What should be considered? #
Factors can include:
- Host employer contract requirements
- Tender requirements
- Number of workers
- Worker occupations
- Industries
- Size of host employers
- Higher-risk workplaces
- Annual wages
- Annual turnover
- Largest clients or contracts
- Locations and jurisdictions
- Professional services provided
- Potential severity of a claim
Workers Compensation operates under separate state and territory arrangements and is not generally selected in the same way as a Professional Indemnity or Public Liability limit.
Is the contractual minimum enough? #
Not necessarily.
A client may require a particular insurance limit, but meeting that limit does not mean every liability accepted under the contract is insured.
Contracts can contain:
- Broad indemnities
- Additional liability obligations
- Consequential loss provisions
- Responsibilities relating to workers or host sites
- Other obligations extending beyond the policy
The limit should also be considered alongside:
- Excesses
- Sub-limits
- Aggregate limits
- Defence costs
- Exclusions
Webber Insurance can review contractual insurance requirements from an insurance broking perspective.
