Webber Insurance has a specialist insurance facility for Landscape Designers and Landscape Architects. However, if your business also accepts responsibility for physical construction, the standard facility may not be the right fit and a different insurance arrangement may be required.
You may need a Design and Construct Professional Indemnity policy if your business:
- Provides landscape design and also performs physical landscaping or construction work.
- Subcontracts construction work while remaining responsible to the client.
- Accepts contractual responsibility for both the design and completed works.
- Provides project management, construction supervision or contract administration.
- Supplies or installs products, materials, structures or other landscaping elements.
Some standard Professional Indemnity policies exclude or restrict claims connected with construction, installation, manufacture or fabrication. However, this does not mean every Landscape Architect undertaking site work automatically needs a Design and Construct policy. The correct arrangement depends on your activities, contracts and the policy wording.
Design and Construct Professional Indemnity Insurance generally addresses liability arising from professional services connected with construction. It does not replace other covers that may be required for the physical work, including Public Liability, Products Liability and Contract Works Insurance.
