Professional Indemnity Insurance is designed to respond to certain claims arising from the professional services provided by a Building Designer.
Depending on the policy wording and circumstances, allegations may involve:
- Errors or omissions in drawings or design documentation
- Incorrect specifications
- Alleged non-compliance with building codes or planning requirements
- Errors in measurements or site information
- Misinterpretation of client instructions
- Failure to adequately communicate design limitations or requirements
- Delays allegedly caused by errors or omissions in professional documentation
- Contract administration errors
- Allegations of negligence or breach of professional duty
A Professional Indemnity claim does not necessarily mean that the Building Designer has made an error.
Clients or other parties may make allegations that ultimately need to be investigated or defended.
Subject to the terms of the policy, Professional Indemnity Insurance may provide cover for:
- Legal defence costs
- Investigation and expert costs
- Damages or compensation for insured claims
- Settlements agreed with the insurer
Policies contain exclusions, excesses, conditions and limits that can affect how a particular claim responds.
If you receive a complaint, demand or allegation that could result in a claim, notify us as soon as possible rather than attempting to resolve it without first seeking advice.
