An Interested Party is a person or organisation whose financial or other recognised interest in insured property is noted on an insurance policy.
The exact meaning and effect depend on the policy wording and the type of interest being noted.
Common examples #
Interested Parties can include:
- Banks
- Financiers
- Equipment lenders
- Property lenders
- Landlords
- Other parties with a recognised financial interest
For example, a financier may be noted on a Commercial Motor policy because it has financed the insured vehicle.
Simply noting a party’s interest does not generally give them all of the rights or coverage available to the Named Insured. The wording used by the insurer matters.
How do I add an Interested Party? #
Provide Webber Insurance with:
- Full legal name of the Interested Party
- Their interest in the property or policy
- Any wording they have requested
- Relevant contract or finance details if required
We can then ask the insurer to consider adding the interest.
If the insurer issues an endorsement, an updated Certificate of Currency may also be available subject to Webber Insurance’s normal Certificate of Currency release requirements.
Contact our team if you need an Interested Party added to your policy.
